The Hypercompetitive World

Almost all countries are shifting towards a favorable viewpoint towards immigrants. Despite falling population levels, developed countries are believing misleading news and creating a ruckus around immigration. This has been a growing trend due to which the number of visas allocated each year have been curtailed.

With the exception of Australia and Canada, all other countries are stamping down on immigration.  United States is already decreasing the number of immigrants it takes in each year. Canada, on the other hand, is facilitating applicants by simplifying the immigration process. The proof of this is Canada’s express entry program, one of the best immigration programs in the world.

Case for Immigration

Immigration has proven time and again to improve a country’s economy as well as culture. For instance, 43% of Fortune 500 firms were founded by first or second generation immigrants. Some of these companies include Tesla, Apple, Disney, Ford, etc. According to many studies, Immigrants are more likely to start businesses and contribute to the economy than natives. Further, the following benefits hold true as well:

1.Immigrants make the society multicultural
2.Immigrants connect the world
3.Immigrants counter the negative impact of aging population

In recent years, aging population has become the primary problem for all developed countries. Major impact of this is visible in Canada, Japan, UK and so on. These countries are finding it difficult to pay for the retirements of the aged population because the workforce doesn’t have enough young people.

Solution for Countries and Immigrants

From time immemorial, the tide has shifted both towards and against immigration. People who want to immigrate for better opportunities, hence must make good judgements and select the countries that have liberal policies. Some of these countries include Canada, Australia, Germany and so on.

Immigrating to Canada and Australia

Above, we have made the case for immigrating to Canada and Australia. Both the countries are currently welcoming immigrants with open arms. In fact, Canada has released its immigration plans for the time period 2019-2021. Also, Australia has initiated a new visa for low skilled workers to replenish its regional population.

Canada Doubles Application Period for Post-Graduation Work Permit and Removes the Requirement for a Study Permit

Canada has extended the number of days available to postgraduate students to apply for a work permit. Under the Post-Graduate Work Permit(PGWP) program, recent graduates will now have 180 instead of 90 days to apply for a work permit. This extension will enable these students to find work as well as improve their immigration profile while living in Canada.

Further, students applying for a PGWP do not require a valid study permit. However, they must have had a valid study permit in the period of 180 days prior to the day they apply for the PGWP. Students regularly complained about the stress caused because of the renewal process of study permit. Hence removing the requirement of this permit will provide them with adequate time to apply for a PGWP.

According to David Cohen, a senior partner at Campbell Cohen Canadian Immigration Law Firm, “This is huge news for international graduates who are applying for a Post-Graduation Work Permit.” He further added, “Doubling the amount of time they have to apply and allowing them to do so beyond the expiration date on their study visa will make a world of a difference for students who want to stay and gain valuable Canadian work experience.”

Post Graduate Work Permit
A PGWP enables recent graduates to live and work in Canada once their education is completed. According to the IRCC, students of Canadian universities are more suited to assimilate in the country and become productive residents. With this permit, recent graduates from Canadian institutions can live and work in Canada for up to 3 years.

The PGWP is an interim step to permanent residency. The work experience acquired through this permit will enable you to become a permanent resident of Canada. As soon as you submit the application for a PGWP, you can work full time.

Before approving your application, your profile will be assessed on the basis of:

● Canadian Language Benchmark

● Educational Qualification

● Study Period

● Job Category
